Children's Liturgy of the Word - We are very fortunate and blessed to have the Children's Liturgy of the Word ministry at our parish. I would like to share with you some aspects of this ministry. First of all, this ministry is not a babysitting or day care service. We are sincerely interested in teaching about and engaging our children in the liturgy of the word. We also welcome any parents to come and sit in with their children during this instruction and prayer time. The program we are currently using is entitled Children's Liturgy of the Word. One great benefit of this program is that it mirrors for the children the same elements that are taking place in Mass. For example, the format includes the following elements: Procession, Centering, First Reading, Responsorial Psalm, Second Reading, Gospel Acclamation, Gospel Reading, Homily/Reflection, Profession of Faith and the Prayer of the Faithful. Another great benefit is that we have highly qualified and dedicated parishioners who are teaching the children. They truly and sincerely care about the spiritual welfare of your children. I know they would welcome any opportunities for you to introduce yourselves to them and meet them. Please keep all the children, and their parents and teachers in your prayers. May God continue to bless you. Joseph A. Garcia

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion - At any Mass you attend, please be watchful and aware of whether additional ministers are needed and COME FORWARD to help. Bereavement Support Group "Safe Journey" The Bereavement Group will meet on the second and fourth Mondays of the month from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. However, if the second or fourth Monday falls on a holiday we do not meet. The group follows the holiday schedule observed by the schools and election days that may follow on Tuesdays. For information, contact Barbara Rivera at 670-1265 or Christella Noedel at 983-3709.
Proper Dress - Letters were sent to all pastors of the Archdiocese concerning appropriate dressing for the celebration of the Liturgy on Sundays. People become careless in the way they dress for church, showing disregard for others who attend Mass as well as for the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. The message is for both men and women. At times clothing is very revealing, some times sloppy, torn and dirty. I encourage everyone to take pride in the way they dress when they come to church. Remember that you come to the house of God. Respect yourself and others in the way you dress when you attend Mass on Sundays and during the week.
Stand, Sit or Kneel? - Remember, as a gathered Assembly we are to sing, pray, listen and participate fully and consciously as a community of prayer. The changes called for by the Catholic Church are intended to help us accomplish this. The Church encourages us to put aside our personal preferences and be more fully aware of Christ's presence in the Word proclaimed, the Eucharist shared, the minister of the Church and the People of God gathered with us. Here are a few reminders about our common postures and gestures as we implement the Revised GIRM (General Instruction of the Roman Missal).
